In these times of profound chaos and disorder, we have to take satisfaction from the little things--the small tweaks in how we arrange our desks and our reading place so that everything is just so; our tax records (yuk) so we don’t go postal before April 15. And If we spend much time on the computer with the hope of keeping our thoughts in order like I do, any tools to help with that are welcomed into the tiny arsenal of tweaks, apps, keyboard shortcuts and workflow processes.
I just reluctantly switched from Opera browser to Chrome. I remembered reading somewhere that TAB GROUPS was a coming thing for Chrome but not available in Opera. It has come to the most recent version (87.yadayada) that I installed a month ago, but just this morning thought to look for Tab Groups.
To trigger it, right click on any open tab in chrome and select CREATE GROUP and name by topic, time, importance etc) and this will similarly color and join all the links you move into that group in the tabs area of the browser. You can also select color.
It seemed logical that there would be a way to compress all those links into the GROUP button. And yes there is—by adding one simple bit of text.
Just go to the Chrome URL bar and type or copy-paste the following, hit enter.
chrome://flags/#tab-groups-collapse
Change DEFAULT to ENABLED. Close and reopen the browser.
Thereafter, clicking on the GROUPS button or buttons you created collapses how ever many pages are hidden there into the button until you click to expand.
Maybe this will be useful for somebody out there.
