The Chinese, in Harbin, throw themselves into winter in the most creative and whimsical way. Makes me smile, and maybe you.
Watch this short video past the winter swimming and snow sculptures to the Ice City at night. Keep in mind that it is cold enough for a major river to freeze solid enough to supply the tens of thousands of three-foot-thick ice blocks for towers up to 100 feet tall.
Just take a look at what opposable thumbs and an advanced cerebral cortex can create. What an odd creature we are—the paragon of animals at our best, and the only one who knows evil and greed.
So if for no other reason than to replace that image you may have of the Chinese as gray, dour people and their cities and life as devoid of color and joy, take a look. Show your kids.
WOW!!!
