MEH. I manually added the comment button. it should appear every time by default. Frustrating. meanwhile I am exploring an enhanced front end for Fragments, you might swing back over and take a look. I have yet to use the vast tool kit of bells and whistles my friend and web host has made available to me through Elementor Pro front end for WordPress. I am not at all sure that I can make the blog as visible as the SubStack newsletter, and it is way more friction to create. With so few readers even on Substack, I wonder If I ought not just talk to myself and give up the notion that I can reach beyond that. There is just too much verbiage "out there" these days, and the "signal to noise" filter is very very hard to come by. And then, I suffer the illusion that my text is not noise! It isn't to me, so I will keep talking to myself no matter what. Making that public in any way---I just don't know.
