Certainly the power of names for things is with those for whom it will be a way of knowing their place in the world, including familiar and essential tree, spider, bird, beetle and wildflower specie known by name. I do admire your willingness to stop and photograph or ID--if not smell--the roses and their kin.

That poem was written by artificial intelligence and Microsoft. It shows the power of the new technology. It is not up to Wordsworth's standards, but still not bad.

Yeah it seemed a little off--such as the inconsistencies of thee's but not thou or thines. Have you used the tools at Poe.com?

As we emerge from the pandemic, there seems to be more interest in getting outdoors and experiencing nature. There is an advocacy for "forest bathing" to restore one's sense of our relation to the environment.

O forest, how I love to bathe in thee

To breathe the fresh and fragrant air

To feel the sun and wind on my skin

To hear the birds and streams sing

To see the green and brown of life

O forest, how you heal and soothe me

To calm my mind and ease my stress

To restore my energy and spirit

To awaken my senses and joy

To connect me with nature and myself

O forest, how I thank and honor thee

To cherish your beauty and bounty

To protect your health and diversity

To respect your wisdom and balance

To share your gifts and lessons

I just enjoyed looking at a slideshow you posted in 2017 on a trip to Sarasota Florida. Wonderful photos of birds!

I am so sorry to hear that fragments from Floyd was hacked. I gave up on Facebook when my account was hacked. I loved the photo on this post. I think I recognize it. Sorry to say, I think learning the names of things does not lead many people to learn more about them. I was out of town for three days enjoying naming all the wildflowers I saw, but I’m afraid that’s as far as it will go. Maybe it’s just because I am 80 and feel past learning new information
