In 2002, and for a few years following, most of my writing came out of my day to day experience and stories, living as tuned-in as possible to the WHERE of my life.
Gradually, and naturally. the expanding world of online journalism, photography and story-telling began to offer material that resonated with me, and I would offer quotes, my own spin, and welcome (and receive) reader comments that started a conversation that actually quite often extended the reach of the original story and my related blog post.
The link below is a window into my scrapbook of Saved Things, for what it’s worth, with Memories, Hopes and Golden Dreams harking back to those early days of Commonplace collections.
These days, with the blog in dead-bug posture, I’m using Craft App to store such lists—for a rainy (or in our case, too-windy) day.
It amazes me that you felt the way you described in 2007. I remember your daily blogs from that era so well. You gave me so much naturalist science and such beautiful photographs. I was eager to read your blog every day. As you know I started reading in approximately 2003. The year 2007 seems to me to be at the height of your powers.
