Oh how I loved reading again winds in winter! That is pure poetry, Fred. And seeing your photos again was a treat, too.

As always, incredibly moving and thought-provoking; memories brought up again like so many cards before us, cupped in our hands as we huddle close to the fire, unsure of which ought to be played next. And so we grip them even more tightly, and think, and think, eyes closed and mind racing as the storm of those deep winter experiences washes over us again, and again.

Winter walks can be challenging. But they are rewarded when we can take such beautiful photographs.

❄️ Walking in a Winter Wonderland

The morning opens softly,

a hush laid over every hill,

snow drifting like a whispered spell

that bids the whole world still.

Each step is its own small music—

a gentle crunch, a crisp delight—

as if the earth were singing back

beneath the clean, unbroken white.

Trees stand robed in silver,

their branches etched with light,

and even the air feels brighter,

sharp and pure and bright.

You breathe in cold enchantment,

feel wonder settle in your chest,

and for a moment time moves slower,

the world pausing in its rest.

To walk here is to remember

how simple joy can be—

just snow, and sky, and quiet paths

unfolding endlessly.

Wow Fred... I seem to recall those memories from this side of life too. Though down here on the coast of Texas, our 70 degree days have been running fast and furiously toward summer... And it's February.

Beautifully expressed, Fred, but there is no thaw this far north. It is cold and windy here, and there is snow in the forecast, almost every day. We are up to our ears in white stuff.
