Your recent Field Notes conveyed a somber tone. It appears that your current residence does not provide the same level of stimulation you experienced in Floyd. You may want to view your residence as a home base for travel, which can invigorate your reflections. Additionally, you might consider using a camper for overnight excursions.
If you have mobility issues, check out Will Harlow’s “Thriving Beyond Fifty”. He discusses movements to ease pain anywhere in the body and has a website with many helpful YouTube videos.
Consider adopting a senior dog from a rescue center. These dogs are typically house-trained, more temperate than puppies, and grateful for the opportunity to have a home. Additionally, taking them for walks twice daily will encourage outdoor activity and provide regular exercise.
I am hoping for many field notes in the years ahead.
Some things, missing from the past decades in place, are irreplaceable; some not yet found here. The finding is harder and slower than I had hoped it would be, but there is some movement. I am taking some classes at the university in Jan-Feb and that will expose me to a different part of the community. And so far, the chassis is fit enough for normal wear. Still, it's going to be a long, long winter. From our apartment, I will be wishing for CABIN fever and a wood stove to back up towards.
Some form of internet will always exist, but software changes can make old files unreadable. Consider what happened to floppy disks. I am concerned about the future of your Fragments web page with its many thoughtful comments and beautiful pictures. Leopold would likely have preferred browsing the Fragments website over taking ketamine.
I got very intrigued with trying psilocybin a couple of years ago. I even flew to Oregon because an Oregon friend’s daughter was willing to supervise my “trip.”. She changed her mind and only let me try ecstasy. That wasn’t anything too great.
Intriguing and appalling thought about the internet disappearing. But accurate of course. The website I have had since 2009 and added to occasionally will evaporate with photos and thoughts. I have shoeboxes full of prints and negatives, folders filled with plastic pages of slides and I think I should digitize them. What will endure? And yesterday I read about the fellow who purchased Stonehenge and “saved” it. Thanks for sharing your thoughts and photos.
I am thankful to find some resonance across the ethers with my flights of fancy and general perplexity and amazement about the "ordinary" on Earth. I like living here! And glad to have companions. And re longevity and digital data, looking not too far down the road: AI uses quantum physics tech to easily and quickly convert 1's and 0's and also qubits into DNA sequences and store the library of congress in a one milligram crystal, readable on any desktop q-puter of the day. Sorry, Just spit-balling. \{ ; > ))
