So glad it worked out for you guys to have the original situation. Your current place does remind me of when I was 25 and new to the D.C. area. I rented an apartment in Old Town, only to find the first evening that it overlooked six lanes of Interstate. I decided that it sounded like the ocean, and that helped me get sleep. I don't think I could use a similar ruse on myself as effectively today.
I had to trick myself (I can't remember the exact thing I told me) to NOT hear the whippoorwill's every-breath lament, hour upon hour. Otherwise I would have surely gone mad. Or madder. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I hope you can settle in and find good opportunities for outdoor adventures finally. Your mention of a bicycle makes me wonder if you are still bicycling.
I remember sleeping in a dorm room right on Wisconsin Avenue in Washington DC. The first several nights I was awakened every time a trolley came to a braking halt outside my window with a loud woo sound. It wasn’t long before it didn’t wake me.
I certainly hope you grab your camera and water bottle and get farther out in nature while the weather is good!
Sending much love from the stormy mountains of auld Virginny - bet you don't miss these times when it rains for two weeks straight and flash flooding is abounding. ;)
I get really nervous with such threats after years on Goose Creek when the creek grew as the road bed diminished down to bedrock. I can still smell the sour smell of frothing creekwater out of its banks, with crayfish in the middle of what used to be the road.

from AI:
The Joy of Larger Living Space
In a home where walls once pressed so tight,
Now open rooms bathe in the light.
A breath of freedom, a sigh of grace,
The joy of a larger living space.
Windows wide, the sun pours in,
A dance of shadows on the skin.
Echoes of laughter, a gentle trace,
In the heart of a larger living space.
Corners once crowded, now serene,
A canvas for dreams, a tranquil scene.
Every step, a newfound pace,
In the expanse of a larger living space.
Rooms that whisper, “Come explore,”
With every inch, there’s so much more.
A haven, a retreat, a warm embrace,
The endless joy of a larger living space.

Glad you are settling in, Fed, and that your wished for bigger lodgings have become available. WOW, that is a decent library.
